The Rt Hon Jack Straw MP, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, and Michael Wills MP, Minister of State will be in Leicester today talking to the local community about how our country is run.

“Whose Democracy is it anyway?: Shaping our Democratic Future” is a groundbreaking event giving the people of Leicester the chance to give their views to Jack Straw MP and Michael Wills MP on how Britain should be governed in the 21st century. The event will explore questions like:

  • Do you feel you have a say in how the country is run?
  • Do you want more of a say?
  • How do you want to have your say?
  • What roles should politicians play?
  • What can Westminster politicians learn from the people of Leicester?

This event is a chance to make a valuable contribution, and takes place from 3pm to 6pm at ATHENA, Rutland Street, Leicester LE1 1SA.

Everyone is welcome to come and visit the stalls that local and national organisations will be running, to find out more about the Governance of Britain agenda, and to engage Jack Straw MP and Michael Wills MP in a Q&A session from 3.15pm to 4.15pm.

Directions for ATHENA can be found here.

A report of what happened on the day will be available on this site in the near future.
